Director, The Business Farm Ltd (New Zealand) Director ARC Ltd, Director The Business Binnacle Ltd Visiting adjunct Lecturer MBA & executive programmes, New Zealand Allan heads the 'large business' and Australian practice of The Business Farm which provides strategic, operational and financial planning and implementation support to large companies and large infrastructure projects, operating under risk and uncertainty. (see our Australian website: www.thebusinessfarm.com.au He has currently returned to New Zealand and oversees the strategy operations/finance and valuation practice of the firm in Australia and New Zealand.
Allan specialises in aligning strategy, operations and finance and in strategic investment-decision making under conditions of high risk and uncertainty. He also works on commercialising projects at the high end of finance including earnings valuations, valuations of licences warrants (contingent claim value), real options valuations, performance management, balanced scorecards, joint ventures, exit strategies and succession planning. Allan has been a management advisor with a number of companies on the de-aggregation of supply/value chains, global optimisation contracts, cross docking and delay manufacturing operational strategies, and the in the management of uncertainty on the supply-value chain. In the area of performance management, Allan has recently designed the fourth generation of Balanced Scorecards linking third generational Balanced Scorecards to the value of the company. The tool he has designed to facilitate this 4th generational change is called the 'The Business Compass', which is designed to measure performance, act as a 'value advisory service and map the footprint of the company on the environment and the community; a front runner in scorecard management. Allan Rodrigues and Michael Saunders of Tenon Group Pty Ltd have jointly designed an IT Portfolio Value Management Model to manage the value and performance of IT investments in large companies. The model is called the "IT Binnacle' and consists of a diagnostic tool to assess the maturity level of organisations with large IT portfolios, an intervention cum improvement plan to improve maturity levels and a set of advanced financial valuation tools to value the IT portfolio. Allan’s early background includes a career as a senior naval officer in the Indian Navy. His experience includes the command at sea of three major warships, the training head of the Naval Academy, followed by senior management tenures as a General Manager/Vice President of IndusInd media, a national multi-system cable broadband operator in India (a wholly owned subsidiary of the multinational Hinduja Group) Achievements:
